The Arkena Nordic Video Index is an annual survey concerning the streaming habits of the population in the Nordic countries – Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The survey provides in-depth insights on how people in the Nordic region consume tv and online video services.

The computer is still the number one device for watching streaming services

 

Average spending in the Nordic households is 19€ / month

Cord cutting continues – 10 % of the Nordic households will terminate their cable or satellite subscription within the coming year

52 % of all streaming users in the Nordics have a subscription streaming service

Nordic streaming users are loyal subscribers – once signed up they don’t terminate and sign up again

Background

The Arkena Nordic Video Index survey was conducted by global research company Epinion to gain insights into the streaming habits of the population in the Nordic countries – Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

The survey focuses on a number of streaming services and genres that are general for all the Nordic countries. There are also a number of services, which vary from country to country. Results on these specific services are contained in the country specific reports.

This report is the summary report of the Nordic surveys – it focuses on the general conclusions across the four Nordic countries in the survey.

The report will comment on any development compared to the survey conducted in 2013, and launched in 2014, but as many questions and categories have been changed this will only be relevant to a minor degree.

Method

The survey is web based and was completed in mid December 2014. The results are based on 4.055 interviews, distributed across the Nordic countries as follows:

– 1.022 interviews among the Danish population
– 1.005 interviews among the Swedish population
– 1.004 interviews among the Norwegian population
– 1.024 interviews among the Finnish population

The results are weighted based on the actual distribution of gender, age and region in the four Nordic countries.

The report is primarily based on numbers showing the share of the population(s) across the Nordic countries, but when possible mean scores have been calculated in order to report the results

Multiple questions will sum to more than 100 %
